Horror Art

Mia Mäkilä (Mia Makila) is a 30 year old self taught artist from Sweden. Dealing with difficult emotions and themes such as fear, angst, madness, rage and sorrow in her art has earned her a nick name –  “Horror Artist”.

She describes her art as horror pop surrealism or dark lowbrow. Her work includes mixed media, paintings and digital collages. Take a look at her recent work below, you will either love it or hate it! 🙂

Tetris block sculptures

Are you a big fan of Tetris?

If you happen to be wandering the streets of Sydney, you can find giant Tetris pieces floating over your head.

These Giant Tetris Pieces are part of an outdoor art exhibition called Live Lanes – By George! which runs through January 31, 2009.

How to make origamiArt is a form of expression which transcends race, religion, or state of mind. Like any art basics, origami can be learned and even unlearned in the process. The gray line that separates art from skill is raw talent and lust for creation. It is either you have it or you do not. No exceptions.

Origami has been known to originate from Japan. Japanese people are very crafty and talented artists, evident of being one of the tigers in the technological industry. One who has the power to create also has the inclination to destroy. Art then is an attitude and a way of life. The term “Oru” means “to fold” and “Kami” means paper, so goes the name Origami.
