Thieves steal church bell

Imagine the look on Father Peter Botya´s (a local priest in Hungary) face when he couldn´t find the church bell one morning. He went up to ring it but it was gone. Somebody stole a 47 stone copper bell from the top of a church tower.

It’s a complete mystery for police how a church bell that was almost 70 feet up the tower could be stolen when there is no records on cranes being brought into the area by anyone for ages.

They are now questioning local scrap dealers as they believe the thieves will have cut up the bell and sold the metal.
